Job Overview

Building Engineers are professionals who design, construct, evaluate, and/or maintain buildings.  Their work includes both technical and management processes by which buildings are designed, constructed, renewed, and maintained.  They also provide professional services in the design and preparation of plans, and remedial works.  They do site inspections and certification of works, and handle the repair and maintenance of buildings.  They may specialize in the conservation or rehabilitation of properties.

Building Engineers do energy audits, certify energy performance, and give advice on energy-saving designs.  They oversee fire safety and health and safety inspections and adherence.  Building Engineers lead building inspections and surveys, and manage any construction on the property.  They also negotiate, obtain, and implement grants and claims.
