Chief Legal Officer - Family Office

Position Overview
The Chief Legal Officer (CLO) of a Single Family Office generally reports to the CEO.  The CLO is responsible for providing a critical legal perspective to business, real estate, and investment opportunities.  They proffer legal advice and services to the SFO.  
 
Requirements

Education/Certifications/Experience
  • J.D. degree required
  • 10-15 years’ legal practice experience
  • Family trust & partnership and estate law background required
Computer Skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite required
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Can manage significant business interests and/or complex personal legal needs
  • Expertise in business, patents, litigation, marriage law/pre-nuptials, trust & estates, etc.
  • Well-diversified and connected
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Exceptional communication, management, and interpersonal skills
Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities
  • Evaluates business, real estate and complex investment opportunities from a legal perspective
  • Negotiates business transactions and performs closings
  • Organizes and monitors family trusts and partnerships, as well as trust & estates issues
 
Compensation – Corporate Type Benefit Package, Perks

In smaller SFOs, this position can range from $150,000 - $250,000 and $500,000 - $750,000+ in mid-size to larger SFOs
