Accounts Payable Specialist - Large Distributor

The Denver job outlook for accounting and auditing clerks looks very positive.  According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Occupational Outlook Handbook, the employment is expected to grow 14% from 2010 to 2020, as fast as the average of all occupations. As the number of companies increases in Denver, Colorado, and financial regulations become stricter, there will be greater demand for these workers to maintain books and provide accounting services.

Denver Accounts Payable Specialist Needed by Major Distributor – Temp-to-Hire Staffing Solution Identified

Due to growth and expansion, a major distributor and master supplier for electrical wiring and cable products recently promoted its Accounts Payable Clerk to another position.  In order to meet their contract deliverables, the organization’s executive management determined that an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist must be identified immediately. Our client reviewed their staffing options and readily concluded that a Temp-to-Hire staffing solution was best.  J. Kent’s Staffing Managers began an immediate search to identify qualified candidates.

What Was the Major Distributor of Electrical and Cable Wiring Looking For?

Significant new and increased orders were pressuring the output of our client’s accounting department. The AP processing of 150+ supplier and vendor invoices per week had been increasing, and with the promotion of the previous AP Specialist, our client wanted to maintain their excellent record of AP processing. So, what was the client seeking?

Accounts Payable Specialists Vetted Through J. Kent Process

At J. Kent Staffing our Staffing Managers and Recruiters have identified AP Specialists for our Denver employers since 1979 using the J. Kent Process. Lucy, along with 3 other candidates, continued to move through the vetting process including extensive background checking.  However, when Lucy was interviewed by our client, her positive, sunny disposition, and her qualifications stood out among her peers. It was Lucy who received the “tip of the hat” for a second interview, and ultimately a great job offer with benefits and good advancement opportunities.

Lucy is originally from Thailand and moved to the U.S. with her family when she was 14 years old.  While in high school in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, she was in the National Honors Society, and graduated with a 3.8 GPA. She also received an Associate Degree in E-Business Management & Accounting in 2004.  During the years 2005 – 2009, Lucy worked for a mechanical/construction contracting firm as an Accounts Payable/Purchase Order Administrator; and, as many during the “Great Recession of 2008”, was laid off in 2009.  These were tough times and tough years.

Hard Working Mom and Mother of Young Child Returns to Denver Job Market

Affected by the layoff in a difficult Denver job market, and with a young child at home, Lucy quickly recognized that with a little belt tightening this was her opportunity to stay at home, and raise her child for the next three years.  As the job market began improving, and her child became ready to start school, she then resumed her search for full-time work as an AP Specialist.

Good job, Lucy!  Good job all around!
