Accounts Payable Specialists – Found in Most Industries

Accounts Payable Specialists positions may be entry level or highly experienced and are generally found in most industries. If the position is entry level close supervision is generally required. Many of these positions are usually found in larger companies. Position may report to the Accounts Payable Manager, Accounts Payable Supervisor, or to an Accounting Manager depending upon the size of the organization. And, depending upon the volume and AP cycle, the preparation and processing of AP is usually scheduled to meet the organization’s payment policies. An Accounts Payable Specialists reconciles and pays all approved expenditures for a company, and ensures all expenses are paid in a timely fashion. Many highly experienced Accounts Payable Specialist are full-cycle and also work in the GL.  They may process a very large volume of AP in a weekly or monthly cycle, and depending upon the size of the company, may also be responsible for filing, faxing, collating, copying, scanning if an Accounting Clerk is not on staff.

Denver Engineering Firm Creates New Accounts Payable Specialist Position

J. Kent recently conducted a search for a Denver Accounts Payable Specialist for a well- established, Denver based engineering client that has provided comprehensive pipeline engineering and facilities construction solutions to the energy industry for over 30 years.  What created the need for the opening was that the company was growing and the accounting department was not able to continue to meet it accounting cycles without another Accounts Payable Specialist.  With national contracts and work volume increasing, our client’s executive management approved an addition to its Denver accounting staff.  Although the organization is experiencing significant growth, the decision was made to use Temp-to-Hire as the staffing option to on-board this newly created position.

Since January, 2012 the company had been searching for a full-cycle Accounts Payable Specialist.  Unfortunately, their own search efforts did not identify the talent they needed.  After a 3 ½ month search, the newly created Accounts Payable Specialist was still open and unfilled.  Finally, after engaging J. Accounts Payable Training in U.S. Air Force Jump Starts Career in Private Sector

Melissa, a Colorado native grew up in the Colorado Springs area.  While in high school she was listed in Who’s Who among high school students and was on the honor roll with a 3.5GPA.  Upon graduation from high school, Melissa entered the U.S. Air Force.  While in the service she received her training in accounting, specifically as an Accounts Payable Specialist.  With an honorable discharge, Melissa left the service and entered the business world using her exceptional accounts payable training.  From this point on, Melissa’s career has spanned over 12 years of full-cycle, heavy volume, accounts payable experience in such industries as healthcare, financial services, banking, and restaurant holding companies.  During these years, Melissa also returned to school, attended Community College of Aurora and received in Associates of Arts Degree in 2005.

Denver Engineering Firm Finds Perfect Match for Newly Created Position
