Denver Companies are Cautiously Adding to Staff – Careful Hiring Decisions Made at a Pivotal Time

Since 1979, our Denver recruiters have experienced the expansion and contraction of the US and Denver economies, and in the down turn, the contraction of high quality, well paying Denver jobs occur even with our most well-established companies.

Likewise, at the uncertain beginnings of expansion, our Denver recruiters are aware when a company’s skeleton staff, retained after major layoffs in 2008, are no longer able to maintain high productivity to meet increasing demands of  contracts and new opportunities.

At this pivotal time, we observe that the company’s executive team always approaches the decision to create new jobs with caution, and understandably so. There are many business concerns and questions:

Commercial Real Estate Sector Hard Hit in the 2008 Recession – Layoffs Plentiful

Commercial real estate, of course, is one of the industries hit hard by the downturn in the last 4 years, and this sector certainly has had its share of layoffs throughout the United States, and in Denver, Colorado.  Since the 1970’s, J. Kent Staffing has experienced these expansions and contractions in the Denver commercial real estate market.  Therefore, when economic and industry indicators support greater commercial market activity, our Denver Recruiters find the talent this industry seeks from in many of our areas of Expertise to include real estate specialists and administrative staff.

Denver Commercial Real Estate Firm – Astutely Observes Evolving Market Trends

Astutely observing evolving market trends, one of J. Kent’s commercial real estate services organizations, a developer, manager and marketer of multi-unit, apartment communities throughout the Rocky Mountain Region, was at the crossroads of this pivotal hiring decision.  Positive trends were evolving in their market, and the decision was made in Q3 of 2011 to engage J. Kent Staffing in a Contingency Direct Hire search for an Office Manager; a position that was downsized in 2008.  Using The J. Kent Process, our Colorado Recruiters conducted the search and Erin, a Colorado native, received the exceptional Denver job offer.

Real Estate Careers Affected by Layoffs in 2008 – Begin to Rebound

The state of the real estate market from 2008-2011, not only challenged US commercial real estate companies, but also those individuals who developed their careers in the industry.  Erin, a Denver native and University of Colorado graduate (BA Anthropology) had spent 4 years working as the Office Manager/Executive Assistant to the principals of a highly recognized real estate investment firm.  The firm specialized in the acquisition and management of northern California real estate properties.  Erin was deeply involved in her real estate career, creating quarterly investment forecasts, managing investment distribution, hired and managed office staff, analyzed workflow efficiencies and created and maintained extensive company databases.

Denver Commercial Real Estate Firm and Erin’s Timing is Perfect

As the recession deepened in 2010, Erin also began to recognize the significant downturn in the real estate market and decided there is no better time than the present to embark upon a South American adventure. Fluent in Spanish, and with a Certificate in English Language Teaching Adults, Erin headed to Columbia, South America.   Here she waited out the US real estate downturn in a job that offered her little money, but great satisfaction and personal reward.  A passion fulfilled.  However, in the fall of 2011 Erin knew it was time to return to her native Denver, and find employment, hopefully in the real estate industry.  Congratulations to both Erin and our client…the timing for both of you was just perfect.
